Whim app is the Winner of the Nordic Smart Cities award

MaaS Global’s Whim app wins the Nordic Smart Cities award as the Disruptive Innovator of 2016 in Stockholm’s smart city conference 2nd of November 2016. The event gathered together the cutting-edge technologies on the horizon from the world’s leading innovators.

The largest Nordic Smart Cities event offered ideas for city leaders to create a smarter and more sustainable future for all citizens. Theme of the event was Sustainable, Innovative, Connected & Together – the City 2.0. The challenge for city leaders is to combine strategy, planning & technology to build a real vision of the Smart City in 2040.

MaaS Global was seen as an disruptive innovator with their Whim app as it is bringing new alternatives for citizens for their daily mobility. Winner was chosen by the audience and monthly mobility subscription was seen as the way for the future as it is providing a true alternative for car ownership.

“MaaS Global aim to revolutionize the way that we consume travel. An alternative to car ownership that is not only cheaper but a lot more efficient. A truly disruptive innovator!” says the event organizer, Philip Bell from Nordic Smart Cities.

As MaaS Global just won Helsinki Smart City Action award 2016 at the end of September, Sami Pippuri, the Chief Technology Officer of MaaS Global sees both awards as a praise for hard work.

“We have a strong vision where we are aiming at and the whole team is excited to make this vision real with our Whim application. We see cooperation with local players as one of the most pleasant thing and we are looking forward to continue discussions also with Nordic countries to develop smart MaaS solutions for future citizens.”
