You can make changes to your selected payment method in the Whim app by navigating to the “Profile and Payments”-section. There you can add a new payment method for paying your Whim subscriptions, change the default payment method or delete a payment method. Remember that you cannot renew your Whim subscription without a valid payment method.

Whim subscriptions renew automatically. If you wish to cancel a subscription, you must do it before the next renewal. We recommend that you make all changes well in time, at least one day before your subscription is automatically renewed as subscription cannot be cancelled after it has renewed. This means that your default payment method is always charged when a subscription is renewed.

You should also note the balance of the chosen payment method when making a payment. In some cases, the payment method can be charged only if it has enough money for the entire sum. If the balance is insufficient, another payment method is used to pay for the entire amount.

      Your subscription activates Whim Benefits

At the beginning of 2021, PSD2 or the EU Payment Service Directive 2 came into effect. Because of this mobile and online payments may now require strong customer authentication. Although this adds an extra step to the payment process, it adds another layer of security and protects the users of various services as well as their bank details. Thanks to the new payment services directive, you are better protected against different threats such as theft of bank details and unauthorised bank transfers.

Because of PSD2, you may have to identify using strong customer authentication and verify your identity when paying with Whim. How this is done depends on your bank. You may carry out the authentication by logging in to you online bank or by using your bank’s verification app.

The Whim app may require stone customer authentication when making a Whim subscription or when adding a new payment card to the service. Due to the new directive, we advise you to check that your Whim subscription has been renewed successfully. In case strong customer authentication prevents the subscription from renewing, you can make the subscription again and carry out strong customer authentication according to your bank.

If you wish to know more about PSD2, you can read about it here.

Whim also works with Smartum. Founded in 1995, Smartum is a Finnish family business that offers a wide range of employment benefits that employers can use to support their employees and their well-being. Smartum’s products include sports and cultural benefits, lunch benefits, massage benefits and commuting benefits.

Download the free Whim app from the Google Store or the App Store and create an account. Activate your user account with the same phone number you are using with Epassi – the accounts are connected based on the phone number.

Epassi is one of Whim’s partners that allows you to use a commuter benefit to pay for mobility services. Epassi is a Finnish company that operates in the Nordic countries and elsewhere in Europe. You can use their commuter benefit for travelling between home and work with ease. Epassi can be used to purchase travel cards and season tickets for private use, for example in the Whim app, R-Kioski stores and HSL’s service point in the Helsinki Railway Square. Employers can offer a commuter benefit either on top of a salary or as a benefit included in the employee’s salary.

One of Whim’s partners is Edenred. Edenred Finland is the largest provider of employee benefit solutions, including their commuting benefit which you can use when paying with Whim. Edenred’s selection of employee benefits also includes a lunch benefit as well as a sport and culture benefit. With Edenred, employers can support commuting tax-free up to 3400 euros.

The Edenred commuting benefit is for personal use and can be used only for its designated purpose. Although Edenred’s Ticket Transport® -card is different from traditional payment cards, it is added in the Whim app just like other payment methods.

To add a Ticket Transport® card as a payment method, all you need to do is download the free Whim app from Google Play or Apple’s App Store, depending on your mobile device. Once you have Edenred’s commuting benefit card ready, you can use it to pay for Whim subscriptions, with some exceptions.
