As an HSL 30-day student ticket subscriber, you now get €10 free travel credit when ordering your ticket between August 17 and October 15, 2021. If you are already a student ticket subscriber, the travel money will be automatically added to your account (within 2 working days) when you renew your season ticket during the campaign period.

What you need to do to receive €10 travel credit:

When you place a seasonal order for a 30-day HSL student ticket at our normal price between August 17 and October 15, 2021, we will credit your Whim account with a €10 travel credit within 2 working days.

The travel credit is valid until November 30, 2021 and can be used on all means of transport available on Whim.* As an HSL 30-day student ticket subscriber, you also get access to great Whim benefits!

You don’t need any other mobility apps. Whim has everything you need for flexible urban mobility!

Over the last year, we have added many new forms of mobility to Whim. Campaign terms

These promotion terms will take effect on August 17th, 2021.

Campaign participants agree to these Promotion Terms and Conditions and the Whim Terms of Use. The Campaign Organizer reserves the right to exclude a participant from the Campaign if he or she violates the Campaign Terms or the Whim Terms of Use or otherwise acts illegally.

Campaign organizer

The organizer of the campaign is MaaS Global Oy, whose office is located at John Stenbergin ranta 2, 00530 Helsinki, business ID: 2685777-4.

The person participating in this campaign releases MaaS Global from all responsibilities regarding taking part in this campaign or receiving its price offer.

MaaS Global Oy reserves the right to update the campaign conditions during the campaign.

Campaign terms and benefits

€10 Travel credit benefit

During the campaign, between 17.8.2021-15.10.2021, MaaS Global Oy will issue 10 euros worth of travel credit for all customers who buy or renew a standard-priced HSL 30-day student season ticket. The 10 euros worth of travel credit will be added to the customers’ WHIM profile. The offer applies to all HSL 30-day student season ticket zones, and orders made from and starts between, the 17th of August and 15th of October 2021. The offer is valid for the first 10,000 customers only and only available to residents of the HSL area and neighbouring municipalities. Only one travel credit benefit per customer.

The travel credit will be added to the HSL 30-day student season ticket buyer’s or renewer’s Whim account within two (2) working days of purchase.

The travel credit can be used in the normal way to pay (partly or fully) for all services available in the WHIM application except for the following automatically renewable season tickets: HSL 30-day season ticket, HSL 30-day student season ticket, and Whim Unlimited.

The value of the campaign benefit cannot be converted into cash. The travel credit must be used by 30.11.2021. Unused travel credit will be removed from the customer account on December 1, 2021.

1. You must pass an authentication check through the Finnish National Agency for Education.

2. You must be 18 years of age or older.

3. When purchasing the Student HSL 30 day season ticket, which includes the HSL 30-day ticket, you will need to authenticate – either with bank credentials or a mobile certificate. This will also verify your city of residence. Your permanent address must be in one of the HSL municipalities: Helsinki, Espoo, Kauniainen, Vantaa, Kerava, Sipoo, Tuusula, Kirkkonummi, or Siuntio (or in of one of the neighboring municipalities listed here: Hanko, Hausjärvi, Inkoo, Karkkila, Lohja, Mäntsälä, Nurmijärvi, Pornainen, Porvoo, Pukkila, Raasepori and Vihti).

4. To authenticate, you’ll need to log in with your HSL account. The purchase process will direct you to the HSL service automatically, where you’ll either need to log in to your existing HSL account or create a new one.

5. It is not possible to have an active season ticket on an HSL travel card or in the HSL app. If you do, simply use your existing ticket until it runs out, and then activate the 30-day ticket through Whim.

You cannot transfer the existing time from a card or the HSL app to Whim.

If you have loaded an HSL travel card with value – as opposed to time – this will not prevent you from getting the 30-day ticket through Whim, and it won’t affect the value on your card.

  • Log in to the My Studyinfo service using strong authentication.  
  • Give the Finnish National Agency for Education permission to disclose your information to HSL.

2. Sign up and fill in the profile and payment method.

3. Select the Whim Student subscription and the desired HSL zone.

4. Go through the HSL authentication flow, if not done earlier.

5. If the HSL confirmation is successful, you will be redirected back to the Whim app. The order will be activated immediately after the payment has been confirmed or on the next renewal date depending on which plan the user is currently.

You don’t need a separate travel card, or to buy individual tickets. If you’ve got a valid HSL 30-day student season ticket and your mobile with you, you’re good.

HSL 30-day student season ticket is valid on the familiar transportation services: buses, Metro, ferry, and commuter trains in the HSL area.

Pictures need to be updated to Whim 2.0.

Just a reminder the when you are travelling with and HSL public transport ticket you need to be able to show it for inspections, so make sure that your phone is charged. If you have a 30-day ticket and get an inspection fine, you need to go to an HSL office to get it invalidated.

In case of problems related to the use of the city bikes, please contact the city bike customer service by phone +358942578810 (Mon – Fri 7-19, Sat-Sun 9-17) or by e-mail contact@citybikefinland.fi.

If the bike is stolen while you are using it, please report it immediately to the City Bikes customer service and within two days make a criminal report, of which you will have to deliver a copy to the City Bike Finland customer service. In this case, you will not be required to pay compensation for the bike. Please help us in taking proper care of the city bikes and prevent theft and other vandalism.
